April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her journey in music as a 7th grader when she took piano and guitar classes. April's very first song was called Different which she composed when she was 12 years old. She spent lots of time at 14 composing songs and experimenting with music. Then she began to take excursions to write with her father in NY and LA. April was also able to add other themes in the song "Take My Hand" to help her acquaintances who faced problems like peer pressure, disabilities, and even teenage suicide. Lockhart is a beauty and lifestyle influencer with a growing following. She collaborates with the renowned brand Ilia with whom she has a partnership as well as being an expert in the field of lifestyle. Born without a left hand, the woman is a major part of her. It's however not the entire tale. The account on Instagram of Lockhart doesn't deny the fact that she has a disability. It also doesn't make it a point to emphasize the issue. What is the message? that we are all a part of a multitude of identities and that we are more than our physical selves. Lockhart has stated on video that she didn't want to be defined solely by her disability. She doesn't wish to become a disability advocate who only talks about disability. There are a lot of aspects of Lockhart. This doesn't interfere with my everyday life. All is well and I've learned to make adjustments. However, it's a component of me and I feel that it's crucial to speak about. Lockhart has served as an excellent example to other women in the area of acceptance of oneself. Lockhart admits to having gone through phases where she felt uncomfortable in wearing certain clothing styles which displayed her arms. She now wears any outfit she likes and uploads photos on Facebook with pride. The self-love she talks about is a process. It's not clear if you'll ever reach the point of no return. It's the same for everybody regardless of their insecurity. It's important to have people around you who are aware of and understand the way you feel. They will be the ones to ask what you think about?
